Body
The body will be worked in rounds. Place a stitch marker at the end of each round.
Starting with your main color
R1 - place 6sc into MR (6sts)
R2 - *inc* in each st (12sts)
R3 - *1sc, inc* rep around (18sts)
R4 - *2sc, inc* rep around (24sts)
R5 - *3sc, inc* rep around (30 sts)
R6 - *4sc, inc* rep around (36sts)
R7-9 - place 1sc in each st around (36sts) DO NOT FASTEN OFF
Switch to your second color (this is the first stripe on your baby Betty bee)
R10-11- place 1sc into each stitch around (36sts)
Switch back to your main color
R12-13 - place 1sc into each stitch around (36sts)
Switch back to your second color (this is the second stripe on your baby Betty bee)
R14-15- place 1sc into each stitch around (36sts)
Switch back to your main color
R16-17- place 1sc into each stitch around (36sts)
Switch back to your second color (this is the third stripe on your baby Betty bee)
R18-19 - place 1sc in to each stitch around (36sts)
Switch back to your main color
R20 - *4sc, dec* rep around (30sts)
R21 - *3sc, dec* rep around (24sts)
Stuff the body
R22 - *2sc, dec* rep around (18sts)
R23 - *1sc, dec* rep around (12sts)
R24 - *dec* around (6sts)
Make sure your opening is tightly closed. You can use your darning needle to sew across the opening, if needed to close it more. F/O and weave in your ends inside the bee.
Wings (make 2)
The wings will NOT be worked in rounds.
Using your third color
R1 - place 6sc into MR, sl st, ch 1 (6sts)
R2 - *hdc inc* rep around, sl st, ch 2 (12sts)
R3 - *1dc, inc*, sl st, ch 1 (18sts)
R4 - *2sc, inc*, sl st, ch 1 (24sts)
Join with sl st & cut yarn, leaving a long tail to sew the wings onto the body.
Attach the wings in between the first and second stripe.
Bury all your tails inside the bee for a nice clean finish.
